When it comes to your taps we can

  • Repair or fix leaking taps
  • Supply & install
  • Install only

If you have a dripping tap or are looking to replace your tapware in your kitchen, bathroom or laundry then we can help you.

Depending on the age of your taps sometimes it isn’t worth repairing them and is much better to replace them. Most new taps come with water savers in them so if you are worried about how much water you use then having new taps installed can help with this.

There are 4 basic tap type configurations:

  1. compression
  2. Washer
  3. Ball
  4. Disk
  5. Cartridge

A compression tap requires you to tighten down (compress) the washer to close the water flow and turn the tap off. Think of your standard garden tap

A washer tap is a simple tap spindle with a handle that basically screws out allowing the water pressure to lift the washer allowing the flow of water to pass and flow out of the tap spout, and screws in to turn it off. … In most cases you would have a separate hot and cold tap with the spout in the middle. These types of washers commonly need replacing.

A ball tap also known as a mixer tap has a single lever that operates a rotating, slotted metal ball. The slots in this ball align with hot and cold water inlet seats in the tap body to regulate the amount of incoming water allowed to reach the mixing spout. Hence the name mixer tap

Ceramic disc cartridges are made with two ceramic discs, each cartridge has two holes for mixer taps or one hole for a pillar or two-handle tap.  When both discs are aligned, the water is allowed to flow through the tap and when they are no longer aligned, the water stops. With a cartridge tap, the action is smooth and consistent. With a half-turn, the handle goes from the off to the on position. The tap turns off without added pressure being required as with a compression tap. It’s not usually the tap cartridge that fails as these are incredibly durable. Most of the time it is the inlet or outlet seals falling apart.
